Wreck Fishing - May through November
Spring through Fall, we have the opportunity to slide 10-20 miles offshore and target some of the larger species on fly and artificials over wrecks and reefs in 60 to 120ft of water. Amberjack ranging from 10lbs to way bigger than you want to pick a fight with, are one of the main opportunities. Along with the AJ's, we also get shots at Almaco Jacks, Blue Runner, Cobia, Barracuda, Sharks and more. Some of these fish will thoroughly test your tackle as they dive for refuge in the old shipwrecks that they congregate over. One of my favorite parts of fishing further off the beach, is the clarity of the water. Most days you can see fish following your fly or lure as far as 30ft below boat. Obviously, these types of trips are weather dependent, but if the seas allow us to make the run, then I am definitely game for the adventure.
